ABOUT Memorial Star
Memorial Star Transport is a 24 hour/
7 days a week Emergency Critical Care Transport Service by air and ground for adult, pediatric, high risk obstetrical, and neonatal patients requiring transport to a tertiary medical center.
Communication Specialists are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 800-763-4373 to assist you in your transport needs. |
Memorial Health System provides a base of operations. In cases of HROB or neonatal transports a Specialty Care Team (specifically trained in the care of these special patients) from Memorial Central is launched.
Med-Trans Corporation provides a Bell 407 helicopter, pilots, helicopter maintenance team, and a medical team comprised of a Flight R.N. and Flight Paramedic for the purposes of transporting pediatric and adult populations via helicopter.
At times our patient's needs are best met with the use of a fixed-wing aircraft (airplane). Eagle Med provides a medically equipped King Air capable of coast to coast transports.
If a ground transfer is required Memorial Star teams up with American Medical Response (AMR) of Colorado Springs to provide an ambulance with the capability of providing critical care transport of adult and pediatric populations. In cases of HROB and/or neonatal transports a dedicated specialty care transport (SCT) unit with a self-contained neonatal isolette is available around the clock at Memorial Central.

ABOUT Memorial Star's History:
Memorial Star had been providing ground and fixed wing support to assist in the care and transport of the pediatric, maternal, and neonatal populations of southern Colorado for a number of years. A helicopter component was added in 2005 increasing our capacity to transport all ages; whether from a referral hospital or from the scene of an accident or individual's home.
A Bell 407 was delivered in March, 2005. Memorial Star does approximately 50% scene/50% interfacility transports.
CAMTS certification was obtained March 11, 2008 effective until March 11, 2011 for ground, helicopter, and fixed-wing interfacility transport for neonatal, high risk obstetrical and pediatric patients, and for helicopter scene and interfacility transport for burns, cardiac, neuro, medical, and trauma patients. To attain accreditation, the service is evaluated on safety standards, education, equipment, staffing, communications, maintenance, and administration.
